Is the LYNX D&D Dungeon Master Screen any good?

Sharing my thoughts

The quality and functionality of the D&D Dungeon Master Screen have really amazed me since I recently bought it. Our table top gaming sessions are made a little more exciting by the 3D faux-leather design that depicts an epic fight scene between adventurers and a dragon.

Outstanding attention to detail results in a genuinely immersive experience for both novices and experienced dungeon masters.

Custom Panels

One aspect that really makes the D&D Dungeon Master Screen stand out from the others is that its panels are customisable. These panels allow for the use of readymade inserts as well as A4-size inserts, and they offer easy access to often needed information including item prices, conditions, and battle rules.

This practical tool makes managing crucial elements easy and adds to a smooth gameplay experience. Its attractiveness is further increased by the option to customise the screen to one's liking.

Other Features

The DM screen's portability is an exceptional feature, in addition to its adaptability. Portrayed in a simulated leather sleeve and built to be small, it makes gaming sessions easy to carry. Your vital toolset is always close at hand, ready for any adventure thanks to the easy sliding motion inside the sleeve.

The DM screen is 36" wide by 12" tall, making it the perfect size for table top gaming. Its foldable form also makes it easy to carry wherever your adventures take you, as it shrinks to a reasonable 9" wide by 12" tall.

Dave Rigley - A big step up in quality from my old GM screens

“I've been slow to upgrade my GM screens over the years. While I've gotten them with start kits I always prefer something I can customize so a pair of 3 ring binders or more recently Stratagem's Master's Tome have been my go to. I put a lot of effort into presentation for my players and I always felt my DM screen was lacking on that front. Not any more.

Look and feel
The artwork facing the player's is fantastic. As an artist I can really appreciate the work that went into this piece.

It is a bit heftier than my old screens which I think comes from the artwork making it all a bit thicker. My initiative tracker drapes over it the same as the master's tome so it's not a big difference.

It has no problem standing up and even though it's still pretty new to me it's not fighting me to turn into an M shape or curl up into a tight C. The plastic is a bit softer than my old binders or the master's tome so it holds its position a bit better which works well for me as my game table is a bit skimpy.

Size
Each panel in the screen is taller and slimmer than the Master's Tome's panels. When I first read the item description I missed that the inserts are "A4"(8.3x11.7) and not the 8.5X11 paper I am used to so keep that in mind if you're printing out handouts for your players and want to store them in your new screen. I have a paper trimmer but even regular scissors can handle this easy peasy.

Extras
The inserts cover about what you would expect like travel speed, conditions, and exhaustion(I can never remember beyond the 2nd level of exhaustion), but there's also a fun NPC generator that even covers how the NPC sounds when they speak. Everything is on a thick cardstock which, if you prefer to customize your notes like I do, you can easily pull out and flip over. I was pleasantly surprised to find the backs of the inserts to be lined so I can just slide it back in and write my notes on the plastic cover with a marker.

The sleeve that the screen comes in is surprisingly soft and roomy(I stuffed 2 packs of Paizo's map tiles in there without issue). Knowing what my players are like I also did a cheeto dust test and found the sleeve wiped clean.

Overall I'm super happy with the screen and am really looking forward to breaking it in with a proper campaign later this spring.”

Final Thoughts

The gorgeous 3D leather DM screen is a timeless symbol for dungeon masters and makes a meaningful and distinguished gift that will be appreciated for years to come. Its astounding 4.7-star rating on Amazon attests to both its widespread appeal and the contentment of its prior customers. To sum up, if you want to improve your table top gaming experience, I highly suggest the D&D Dungeon Master Screen.
